In July 2020, the Supreme People's Court issued a ruling, stating that the Dalian City Council had violated the court's orders by building the new airport in the Daliane Valley area without proper planning and consultation with local communities. The court ordered the Dalian City Council to stop construction and pay compensation to the affected communities.
