The Union Berlin side has taken control of the Premier League table with a convincing victory over the TSG Hoffenheim in their first game of the season, and they have now won two of their three matches.

In the first half, Union Berlin dominated possession and created plenty of chances for their goal-scoring midfielder, Sebastian Wimmer. However, it was Hoffenheim who scored first, when Christian Pogatius's header from a corner hit off the post before bouncing into the back of the net.

Union Berlin responded with goals from captain Thomas Rabeke and midfielder Benjamin Schmid, as they fought hard throughout the match. But Hoffenheim were able to equalize through a stunning free-kick by Marco Lepage, who had saved several saves from Union Berlin goalkeeper Michael Hulme.

However, the Union Berlin defense held firm and kept Hoffenheim at bay, thanks to their unbeaten substitution trio of striker Jörg Mollema, midfielder Stefan Kühn and defender Thomas Füssel. They managed to score twice in the second half, after a series of well-taken chances that came from corners and set pieces.

Despite the win, Hoffenheim manager Julian Nagelsmann is not too pleased with his team's performance. He said: "It's a good result but we didn't play our best football today. We've been playing some really poor football so far."

He added: "We need to be more consistent and I think we're going to have to improve on that. The players are doing a fantastic job and I'm proud of them."

In conclusion, Union Berlin have proven themselves as one of the top teams in Europe, with their victory over Hoffenheim showing that they can compete against the best sides in the league. It will be interesting to see how they perform against other strong opposition this season, including Manchester City and Arsenal.
